THE WORLD OF AUDIBLE
Reading is something I’ve always done, but it was not always by choice…let’s just say my smart mouth had me sent to my room with reading as my only entertainment more times than I care to mention (Thanks, Mama).
But seriously, reading is one of my favorite escapes! Nothing makes me happier than snuggling up with a good book and a hot mug of my favorite tea.
Now that I’m a working mom, I’ve found it a little difficult to get my usual fix. I’ve noticed that reading a page or two here or there was just not giving me the satisfaction I needed.
But then I discovered Audible (cue the dramatic music here). If I’m being honest, I have to tell you as an avid reader I’ve always kinda frowned upon audio books, and not thought so highly of them.
Audio books have come a long way since my days as a youth where I felt the orators were boring and lack luster. However, when I listen to books now, it’s almost like watching a movie. I’ve even turned my non-reader husband into a HUGE fan (we haven’t taken a road trip without a good audio book in years).
Now that I’m a member of Audible I keep all my books in one neat little folder and I can even share them with friends – without the hassle of keeping up with CD cases and discs. I’m totally in the know and I can listen to the latest and greatest book whenever and wherever I want.
So in an effort to continue to help shine light on any and all things that will make our lives easier, I want to let you know about audible.com, an extension of amazon, for readers all over the world. If you aren’t a member already, I have to recommend that you try it out, and you can do it for FREE. They actually offer a 30 free trial and it doesn’t get much better than that.
If you have no clue where to start here are few book recommendations:
- ‘The Girl on the Train’ by Paula Hawkins
- ‘The Whistler’ by John Grisham
For us Girls:
- ‘One Less Problem Without You’ By Beth Harrison
- ‘You are a Badass’ by Jen Sincere
These should most definitely get you started. I’d love to hear your feedback and recommendations, so please tag me or shoot me an email on any jewels you find.
